Words from the Wise 38: Dennis Waitley

In 25th Anniversary, Articles, Careers, Words from the Wise

This is a series of posts that uses a quotation by a famous person from history to make a point about career management. Take a moment to reflect and see whether you can start using this wisdom as you start managing your career.

Walt Disney said:

“You’ve got to have a dream if you want to have a dream come true.”

Proteus Career Management says:

“All of man’s greatest achievements start with a dream. What the dream for your career?”

The lesson? “Define your career objectives.”

Dr Mike Warren says:

When the Human Genome Project closed in 2003, genome sequencing cost tens of millions of dollars, but genome scientists at Bethesda decided on a new objective: the sequencing of human genomes for $1,000 apiece. They converted the dream into a goal with specific plans as to when and how they might achieve it, the realisation of the goal was considered so far off as to be almost fictional. Nevertheless in 2014 it happened and 2 years later the reality has already started to revolutionise biomedical research and clinical practice. Never stop dreaming!
